FIRST 2025 ORDER PILLOW & LAMPSHADE SET — and the Beautiful Response That Followed

There’s something special about finishing your very first piece — and this one was unforgettable.

This year 2025, in the month of February I received my first order. This bold and beautiful set features a rich, wavy Ankara print in crimson red, deep mustard, black, and ivory, handcrafted into a matching throw pillow and lampshade combo. It was the first full set I made for House of Lady J Boutique — and I wasn’t sure what to expect when I shared it online.

But when I posted it on Facebook... the reaction blew me away.

Creating the Set: Behind the Scenes

🧵 I started with this vibrant Ankara fabric — I was drawn to the movement in the pattern and the way the colors danced together.

📐 I cut the fabric for both the pillow and lampshade and prepped my workspace.
(Yes, my mannequin was cheering me on from the corner!)

🪡 I sewed the pillow first, focusing on clean lines and matching the print at the seams. Then I moved on to the lampshade — wrapping it by hand and tucking each edge with care.

📸 When I set everything up for a photo... I felt something click. The vibe was warm, bold, and elegant.

And Then... People Loved It.

So many kind comments. Shares. Likes. Messages asking, “Is this for sale?”
That feedback gave me the courage to keep going — and to dream bigger.

This set reminded me: beauty can be bold. Culture can be comfort. And handmade still matters.
